Week 3 of the NFL season was about the two best QBs in the league establishing their dominance in the game today. Amongst other things, here are five QB takeaways from Week 3:
5- Kaepernick struggles badly
Colin Kaepernick wasn’t just bad on Sunday, he was really bad. At one point in the game, Kaepernick had five completions to his teammates, and four interceptions, two returned for scores. He finished with a 16.7 QB rating.
4- Mariota still impressive
Three weeks into the season, and Marcus Mariota is still impressing the league. He ranks second in the entire NFL in touchdown passes (8), and currently holds a QB rating of 109.2.
3- Luck battles back from slow start
Through three games this year, Andrew Luck is off to the worst start of his four year career. He has more interceptions than touchdowns (7-5), and has a QB rating that is lower than the one he posted his rookie season back in 2012 (65.0 to 76.5). On Sunday however, staring at an 0-3 mark, Luck caught fire, tossing for two scores as the Colts rallied for a huge win.
Props to Luck for battling through another tough game this season.
2- Dalton-Flacco air raid
One of the more under appreciated rivalries in football is Cincy and Baltimore, and on Sunday, both teams put up one of the best games on the season. Dalton and Flacco combined for 745 yards passing and 5 touchdowns as the Bengals and Ravens combined for four lead changes in the 4th quarter alone, with Cincy landing the final blow in a 28-24 win.
1- Brady, Rodgers dominate
On Sunday, Tom Brady, the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft fired his 400th and 401st career touchdown passes in a 51-17 blowout win. More than 24 hours later, Aaron Rodgers tossed five touchdowns in a Monday Night game that ended up with a closer score than it really was.
Two masterful performances by the games’ best QBs.
