Getting ready to play the Detroit Lions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game against Detroit in 1997 is a perfect example of how the Bucs do NOT want to play. A very effective first drive for the Bucs stalls and they settle for a field goal. Then Barry Sanders jukes John Lynch out of his shorts and runs all over the Bucs for the lions win.
Of course in the rematch in the playoffs, the Bucs hemmed in Sanders and won. The Bucs will have to keep Detroit running backs from gashing them, to prove their run defense is ready to play in the NFL.
These two clips show the power that was the Bucs running attack in 1997. Yes, there is Mike Alstott, but also a surprise.
TRENT DILFER…plowing over a tackler, is something to behold!
