Flashback: Eddie Vedder Visits Wrigley Field

Before Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam had more than 60 million album sales to their credit and were selling out arenas across the globe, they were playing much, much smaller venues.

On March 28, 1992 (23 years ago!), the success of their debut album “Ten”, brought the Seattle-based quintet to Chicago and while there, they played The Metro. Prior to what would end up being a 16-song set, Vedder, a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, ventured out and led an impromptu walking tour of Wrigleyville and, naturally, Wrigley Field.

And, yeah, the video is spectacular.

Seriously…have you ever seen a grown man so excited about stumbling upon a discarded pile of sod?

According to the video, which was posted to YouTube just prior to Pearl Jam’s 2013 concert at the iconic ballpark, Vedder’s sod survived the tour and resides in a “special spot” in the singer’s front lawn.
