19-year old Flyers prospect Sam Morin will be out at least a month after fracturing his jaw from taking a puck to the face this past weekend.
Morin, who made a strong push to make it in the NHL this season, was looking to get back to the Rimouski Oceanic to take advantage of a full season of development in the QMJHL. Morin was the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
In the third period between Rimouski and the Quebec Remparts, Morin was hit in the face by a slap shot from the left point by defenseman Cody Donaghey while trying to kill a penalty.
Morin is set to have surgery on Monday to repair the fracture. Following the surgery, the Flyers will have a better understanding of how long he will be out.
Through the first five games this season, Morin has three assists and a minus-2 plus/minus but was held without a goal.
