Fond Memories: Duncan vs. James

Seeing how the Miami Heat and LeBron James are in the 2011 NBA Finals, I came across this gem from the 2007 Finals when the San Antonio Spurs faced the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron bullies former Spur Bruce Bowen to get good inside position – yes Spurs fans, Bruce Bowen didn’t make a stop every time he defended someone – and meets Tim Duncan. Duncan then proceeds to block LeBron’s shot and then chase him out to near the 3-point line, pulls up the shorts and defends LeBron on the wing. Duncan sure did set the tone for the 2007 Finals.

Hopefully, the Spurs can get another 6’11” guy who can do that from time to time. And despite my comments in the previous paragraph about him, I do hope the Spurs can get another wing defender like Bowen.

Just thought I’d share this moment with everyone because if I were compiling five Duncan clips to describe his career to someone, this would be in there.
