For real, some NBA picks

NBAThis isn’t a joke. I am going to make a prediction on who will win the NBA title. I have actually watched a few games this year. I went to a game. I know more about the NBA, so I feel comfortable making my picks.

First, let’s just spell out one important tenet. The NBA is decidedly a star driven league. It’s about entertainment, and making sure the stars are given chances to perform on the biggest stage is important to the league. I’m not saying it’s fixed, but I am saying that officials know who the best players are, and consciously or not will make calls to the benefit of the best players.  Second, for whatever reason, not only is the press drawn to the biggest possible stories, they tend to happen. Thirdly, the NBA team size is so small, and the general population of players is approximately equal. The course of the season is so long, and these players have played so long that there won’t be any surprises of coaching. Sheer talent on the court is what wins or loses in the NBA playoffs.

So, on to the predictions.

Oklahoma City over Houston in 5
San Antonio over the Lakers in 4
Golden State over Denver in 6
Clippers over Memphis in 7

Miami over Milwaukee in 4
New York over Boston in 5 (but Boston wins game 3 at home)
Indiana over Atlanta in 6
Brooklyn over Chicago in 7

Second Round!
Clippers over Oklahoma City in 6
San Antonio over Golden State in 5
Miami over Brooklyn in 5
New York over Indiana in 7

Conference Championships!
Clippers over San Antonio in 7
Miami over New York in 6

NBA Champion
Miami over the Clippers in 5

Congratulations, Lebron James! People can now go back to hating you!
