Oakland Raiders rookie receiver/ kick returner Jacoby Ford hauled in two awards for his performance against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
ESPN’s AFC West Blogger Bill Williamson named him “High Energy Player of the Week” earlier in this week for giving his team a “significant boost.”
Ford was also named the AFC special teams player of the week based on his 158 kickoff return yards against the Kansas City Chiefs. This included his 94 yard touchdown sprint to open the second half of the game and begin the Raiders comeback.
To add to Ford’s truckload of awards, he was named NFL’s rookie of the week. He was the second player in NFL history to have 140 receiving yards and 150 return yards in the same game.
This was a real coming out party for the fourth round pick out of Clemson. Prior to this game he was best known for letting a ball bounce off his hands against the San Francisco 49ers and become the game ending interception.
