Ford out, four starters questionable vs Bills

The injury report for Sunday’s game came out today. It has the Raiders looking pretty beat up going into week two against the Buffalo Bills. The new addition to the injury report is wide receiver Jacoby Ford who is out with a hamstring injury. He joins Louis Murphy and Mike Mitchell, all of whom are out for Sunday’s game.

In place of Ford in the return game should be either Denarius Moore or Taiwan Jones. Both players fielded kicks in camp. I would lean toward Denarius except the Raiders are down a few receivers and may want to save his body.

Others who were banged up last week and listed as questionable are Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee), Michael Huff (groin), and Richard Seymour (ribs). Raiders’ new tight end Kevin Boss is also questionable as he is returning from a knee injury he suffered in the preseason.

Boss had limited practice all week and said he expects to play this week. I expect he will as well. The Raiders are eager to see their new tight end on the field and if he is healthy enough to practice, he should take the field.

Michael Huff and Seymour also practiced with limited duty and are expected to play on Sunday.

Darrius Heyward-Bey did not practice this week and it looks as if there is a good chance he will not play. The Raiders are well stocked at wide receiver and can afford to be without DHB. Even with Louis Murphy and Jacoby Ford not playing, the Raiders have Chaz Schilens, Denarius Moore, Derek Hagan, and Nick Miller.

Expect Derek Hagan to be active this week; he should see some decent minutes at receiver. We might see some Nick Miller at receiver as well but despite his being active ahead of Hagan last week, that was simply for his return duties, not his receiving.
