This is an interesting story to read about because rarely you hear about athletes deleting their Twitter accounts due to death threats. We all know and probably seen people on our timelines tweet athletes telling them how bad they performed in a game and sometimes it gets taken a little bit too far.
That was the case of David Akers’ Twitter account. Akers received a death threat through Twitter basically saying that if he missed another field goal, his life would get ended. This came from somebody on Twitter, who’s Twitter handle I will not mention because it’s just a disgrace how serious people take social media these days.
We as people have to take a step back from this age of social media and see it as a phase and nothing more because threatening another person’s life, athlete or not is disgusting.
The Twitter follower who tweeted Akers claimed that his account was hacked and deleted the tweet. On the other side Akers, who is the kicker for the San Francisco 49ers has deleted his Twitter account.
