Today, former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Will James has received a seven month prison sentence for not filing his federal income tax return for 2005, in which he earned $5.5 million.

James, now currently 33 years old and was formerly known as William J. Peterson, has already spent four months in custody and he still has three months to serve. Will James played in the NFL from 2001 to 2010. He spent most of his career with the New York Giants playing five seasons, then played two seasons with the Eagles, one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then finished his career out with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.

In Camden, N.J., on Thursday, a judge ordered James to file back returns, pay back taxes, and penalties totaling $470,000. He also has been accused of not filing tax returns from 2005-2009.

According to Will James’ attorney, he said that James was suffering from a post concussion syndrome that left him mentally impaired.
