Former Eagles tight end James Casey receiving interest from other teams

.

Last Thursday afternoon, when the Philadelphia Eagles released tight end James Casey it was not because he was an unproductive player. He was released because he is scheduled to make $4 million next season and the Eagles are not willing to spend that much on him.

But despite Casey being released, he is starting to garner attention from other teams across the league.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Casey will visit the Broncos on Thursday and according to Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 in Phoenix, he will be visiting the Cardinals sometime this week.

Out of the two spots, Casey is a better with the Broncos and here is why. The Broncos new head coach is Gary Kubiak and he was Casey’s former coach in Houston. Casey had his best season with Kubiak in 2012 in which he had 34 receptions for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Finally, another reason Denver is a good fit is because all three of their tight ends are free agents. Julius Thomas, Jacob Tamme, and Virgil Green will all hit the open market and most likely they will not retain all three. Thomas will command a lot of money and attention on the market which leaves a spot open.

Tamme and Green are most likely going to re-sign but you can never be too sure. That is why many analysts have the Broncos taking Minnesota tight end Maxx Williams with their first round pick. Wherever Casey goes, he will definitely have his pickings as free agency begins on March 10.
