Former E&S star, Brittany Hrynko selected by Sun, traded to Atlanta Dream

Brittany Hrynko Draft redone

Another Engineering and Science basketball star is now in the WNBA. Tonight, in the second round of the 2015 WNBA NBA Draft, the Connecticut Sun selected DePaul and former E&S star Brittany Hrynko with the 19th overall pick.

Hrynko leaves DePaul with a decorated four-year career. This past season, she was named to the 2014 Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American, 2014 WBCA Honorable Mention All-America team, 2014 first-team unanimous All-Big East selection, 2014 Big East All-Tournament team and so much more.

Over her four-year career, she averaged 14.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. In high school, Hrynko as a senior led Engineering and Science to the District 12 Class AA championship in 2011 and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Philadelphia Public League. She finished her high school career with 1,539 points and averaged eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

Hrynko joins a Connecticut Sun team that in the first round selected center Elizabeth Williams from Duke. The Sun also have reigning Rookie of the Year, forward Chiney Oguwmike, who averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

With the additions of Williams and now Hrynko to the Sun with Oguwmike, the Sun could be in prime position to make a playoff run this upcoming season.

UPDATE:

Last night, Hrynko did not stay with the Sun for long as she was traded to the Atlanta Dream for Jasmine Thomas. Hrynko now ends up in Atlanta, where Rebecca Lobo believes that the Dream are early favorites to win the conference championship.
