The Chicago Rush has signed former Gamecocks QB/WR Syvelle Newton (6-1, 210) to a new contract to play wide receiver for them.
It was announced Saturday prior to the Rush’s game with Milwaukee and the move was made to “add depth to the injury depleted wide receiving corps.”
In the game on June 19th, Newton had 10 catches for 93 yards and 2 TDs.
Mr. Newton is no stranger to the arena league as he was with the Harrisburg Stampede in early 2009. He also did a coaching stint at Brookland-Cayce last year, not to mention a try at a music career.
Best of luck to Syvelle in this new endeavor as he is a great football player and will always remain a favorite among the gamecock faithful.
