Former Kansas City Mayor in Sacramento to talk about Sprint Center’s success

Since opening its doors in 2007, the Sprint Center has provided a major boost to the Kansas City economy.  Kay Barnes, their former mayor, was in Sacramento today explaining just how much it’s helped in a public meeting held by the Think Big Sacramento.

“We had a bold vision. During a time when most cities were watching their property values erode, we invested in our city and built a lasting economic engine that our residents are proud of,” said Barnes. “We were able to transform the face of our downtown, and I believe Sacramento has an opportunity to do something very similar.”

The arena task force also released the report presented at today’s meeting, titled “V for Velocity: What the Kansas City Experience Means for Economic Impact in Sacramento.”  You can read the report here.
