The past couple of days the rumors have been flying around saying that former Patriot Sebastian Vollmer may hang up the cleats and retire after 8 seasons in the NFL. Unsurprisingly today he made the final announcement. Vollmer admitted in an interview SiriusXM NFL Radio that he has lost 75 pounds since he last played in January of 2016. So there is no real surprise that he is retiring.

Vollmer was drafted by the Patriots back in the 2009 draft where he was selected in the 2nd round 58th overall. Vollmer played a total of 88 games with the Patriots between the years 2009-and-2016 winning two Super Bowl Championship (XLIX and LI).

The 32-year-old Dusseldorf, Germany native was also very well known for giving Tom Brady some well needed German lessons during last season as seen below.

As for what is next for Vollmer, you might just be seeing him on the media side of things as he is currently attending the NFL Broadcasters Boot Camp. The boot camp trains current and former NFL players in the in the media fields of both television and radio.
