Former Penn State wide receiver Richy Anderson Jr. has officially transferred to Temple University and will join the Temple Owls football team.

Anderson, who was a part of the 2013 Penn State recruiting class was a “legacy recruit” by Bill O’Brien and his staff as his father is Penn State great, running back Richy Anderson Sr. Anderson was a three-star all purpose back out of Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Md.

Shortly after landing at Penn State, Anderson made the switch from tailback to wide receiver where he would show promise throughout his true freshman season. Anderson, saw playing time in 11 games as he collected 13 passes for 111 yards.

Anderson, decided to leave the program in June along with fellow wide receiver Jonathan Warner and quarterback Austin Whipple. Whipple would go onto transfer to UMass, while Warner is still taking classes at Penn State and will finish his education there. Anderson, never gave a reason for his departure however many believe it would have to do with his playing time coming into question as the Nittany Lions brought in not just one or two but three top wide receiver recruits in the class of 2014 (Saeed BlacknallChris GodwinDeAndre Thompkins) not to mention top tight end Mike Gesicki. By transferring, Anderson would be able to ensure himself playing time in his junior and senior seasons.

Anderson, will help provide the Owls offense with depth at both wide receiver and at tailback if needed. Anderson will be eligible to play in 2015 for the Owls.
