Former Philadelphia Eagles QB Vince Young retires from NFL

In shocking news, Vince Young has decided to call it a quits when it comes to the game of football. Young, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2011 was known more famous for his “Dream team” comment rather than his play on the field that season.

It looked like Young had finally got his chance to play once again in the NFL as during the off-season the Cleveland Browns signed him. This was before the team drafted Johnny Manziel in May’s NFL Draft. Later in the month, Young found out that he had been released.

Today, Young told Brent Carney of KXAN that he was retiring and taking a job with the University of Texas, his alma mater. Speaking about his retirement Young said, “It’s definitely official I think in my book.”

It’s a shame that Young’s career had to end like this as coming in as the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, he just couldn’t put it altogether with the Tennessee Titans. Young also spoke about his time in Tennessee saying

I had my ups and downs. I made the mistake of getting in to it with my coach and that kind of hurt me a whole lot. When you go to different teams, they already have a bad perception of you. When that’s out there, there’s nothing you can do.

When looking at Young’s time in Philadelphia, he had an up and down season because in that year, Michael Vick had went down with an injury. Young played in six games and started in three of them. He went 1-2 in those games with 866 passing yards, 4 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.

After his time in Philly, he bounced around to the Buffalo Bills and then the Green Bay Packers. Will we see Vince Young in a NFL uniform again hopefully but as he simply put itI love the NFL, will love the game always but I’m kind of moving forward and moving on right now.”
