The Sox found a way to lose to the Indians again last night and are once again 3 games under 500. Franklin Morales pitched well, but not well enough to not get the loss for the night.
Morales will be in the rotation for the rest of the season and he started off the night showing us why. Morales starting out the 1st by striking out the side. Morales did give up a solo HR to former Sox Brent Lillibridge in the 3rd when he got behind in the count and needed to throw a pitch for a strike. Lillibridge was waiting for it and sent it out of the park. Sox 0-1. The Sox bats gave Morales the lead in the 4th when Gonzo hit an RBI double to score Ells and Crawford. Pedey was throw out at home when he tried to make it 3 runs. Since there were no outs, I wish they would have help Pedey up, but then again I understand why they sent him.
In the 5th, the Indians tied the game when Brantley walked, went to 2nd when Morales balked and then was moved on to 3rd on a sac grounder. Brantley came home on an RBI single from once again Brent Lillibridge. The Sox had a chance to take the lead in the 6th when Ellsbury hit a no doubt double, but tried to leg it into a triple and was throw out at 3rd. Since there were no outs, Ells should have stayed at 2nd base…in hindsight and all. In the bottom of the 6th, Morales found himself in a heap load of trouble. Morales issued a walk, a hit by pitch and an intentionally walk. With one out and the bases loaded, Bobby V went with Andrew Miller. Miller got the out, but it was deep enough to be a go ahead sac fly by Brantley. Sox 2-3. Melancon got the final out of the 6th and then came out to pitch the 7th as well. In the 7th, Melancon gave up a double to…you guessed it…Brent Lillibridge. Lillibridge scored on a suicide squeeze by Marson. Sox 2-4. As the final nail in the coffin of this game, Breslow took the mound in the 8th and allowed an RBI single to Carrera. Sox 2-5.
