The former head coach of the San Antonio Spurs’ D-League affiliate team, Austin Toros, Quin Snyder interviewed for the head coaching job with the Minnesota Timberwolves:
Philadelphia 76ers assistant Quin Snyder has been interviewed by Kahn, an NBA coach with knowledge of the situation said Monday night.
Snyder, 45, just completed his first season as an assistant to Sixers coach Doug Collins and has been a head coach at Missouri and for the Austin Toros in the NBA Development League from 2007-10.
Snyder accepted the head coaching position of the Austin Toros in 2007 brought much success to Austin.
In his first season, the Toros won the Southwest Division championship and reached the D-League Finals. In his second season, he led the Toros to a 32-win season, was the coach for the 2009 NBA D-League All-Star Game in Phoenix, won the Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year award and reached the D-League Semi-Finals.
In his final season with the team, the Toros had another 32-win season and again reached the Semi-Finals. While in Austin, Snyder compiled more wins and guided more players to the NBA than any other coach in D-League history with former Spurs players such as Malik Hairston, Pops Mensah-Bonsu,Marcus Williams,Curtis Jerrells, and Alonzo Gee all receiving call-ups to the NBA.
Snyder is also being considered to join the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff led by former Spurs assistant coach Mike Brown.
UPDATE:
Snyder said there is no truth to the reported interview with the Timberwolves but will be accepting a job with the Lakers.
