Former WWE Tag Team Champions Reportedly Cleared To Return To The Ring

WWE Smackdown Live has been without one of its top tag teams since August of 2018, as both Erick Rowan and Luke Harper of The Bludgeon Brothers have been out of action with separate injuries.

The Bludgeon Brothers were the reigning Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions until Rowan was diagnosed with a right biceps injury which required the team to drop the titles. On the episode of Smackdown Live following SummerSlam last August, the team dropped the gold to The New Day in a No DQ match.

Following Rowan’s exit from WWE TV to undergo surgery, Luke Harper suffered a wrist injury of his own which also required the former tag team Champion to undergo surgery.

According to a new report by PWInsider, both Erick Rowan and Luke Harper have been medically cleared to return to the ring, and Rowan was recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center training for his eventual in-ring return. It remains unknown at this time whether or not the duo will be returning as a tag team, but that is the likely scenario.

As of this writing, it remains unknown when The Bludgeon Brothers will be making their WWE TV returns, or if they will be re-inserted into the Smackdown Live tag team title picture. Prior to The Brothers suffering injuries and undergoing surgeries, they were being pushed as a top tag team on The Blue Brand, and were undefeated during their monster run as Tag Team Champions.

Cesaro and Sheamus are the current Smackdown Tag Team Champions, and are set to defend the gold against the unlikely team of Shane McMahon and The Miz at the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble PPV. With the current “shake up” underway in WWE, it remains to be seen whether or not The Bludgeon Brothers will return to TV on the Smackdown brand, or if officials will move them to the Raw brand in order to freshen up the tag team division on Monday nights.
