Boxing has hit a feverish pace here in North Texas in the past couple of months. With the third boxing promotion taking place in little over a week, it is safe to say that the death of the “sweet science” has been greatly exaggerated. In fact, tomorrow’s Fort Worth TKO promotion promises to be one of the biggest pure boxing cards to hit the DFW in a while.
Not only does this promotion featuring one of Dallas’ most ballyhooed prospects in Hector Vasquez, who headlines the event against former Mexican Olympian Martin Gomez, but the card will feature a number of talented local pugs, both professional and amateur.
Fort Worth TKO is not so much a boxing card, but an day long festival of fistic excellence. The pro-am promotion kicks things off at 2 PM with an amateur card filled with some of the area’s best and brightest young boxers. Then, as the sun begins to set, the professionals take center stage for what is sure to be an action-packed affair. After all, and card that can boast the talents of a Ray Ximenez, and Alex Clarkson, mixed in with a Hector Vasquez, and a Miguel Buendia, is one that is sure to please any fight fan.

When: Saturday, May 8. Doors open at 1:00 PM with amateur bouts beginning at 2:00 PM.
Where: Fort Worth Convention Center (event will be held in the 2nd floor ballroom).
Why you should care: Because nothing beats the raw emotion of amateur boxing, and when you mix that with a who’s who of local talent in the professional ranks, you are damn near guaranteed a great experience.
