Foulke Declines Option

Foulke Declines OptionKeith Foulke, the former Red Sox closer, declined his player option for next season making him a free agent. He will receive a $1.5 million dollar buy out.

Foulke declined the option because he wanted to finish his career in a city near his family. He had been troubled by knee problems over the past few seasons and had been replaced as closer by rookie Jonathan Papelbon.
