Foye: I have to take my time…

Point guard Randy Foye, who has missed the entire season with an
injured left knee, was cleared by doctors on Monday to begin more
strenuous workouts in preparation for a return to the team.

Coach Randy Wittman, basketball boss Kevin McHale and Foye himself all
said the second-year player isn’t close to playing in a game yet, but
the news certainly came as a sigh of relief to a team that has lost
eight in a row and is a league-worst 4-29 this year.

The Wolves will monitor Foye for the next week to
see how his knee reacts to the increased workload during non-contact
drills. If all goes well, Foye could resume full-scale practices with
the team after that, though there’s no timetable for his return to
games.

Foye said he can hardly wait to establish chemistry with his teammates,
to work on developing an inside-out game with Al Jefferson. But he’ll
have to be patient a little longer.

"I want to play, but I have to take my time," Foye said. ”I’ll come
back when everything is right. But for now, it’s going according to
plan."
