France defeats Italy, Latvia falls to Israel, and Slovenia beats Belgium

TPIn day five of the opening round of the 2011 FIBA Eurobasket, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker and France won their fourth straight game as they defeated Italy 91 to 84.

France was led by Charlotte Bobcats’ Boris Diaw’s 21 points and Portland Trail Blazers’ Nicolas Batum’s 20 points and five rebounds.

Parker finished with eight points, four assists, and three rebounds in 24 minutes of action. Spurs draftee Nando De Colo finished with four points in 17 minutes of playing time.

Italy was led by Toronto Raptors’ Andrea Bargnani’s 22 points and five rebounds. New Orleans Hornets’ Marco Belinelli had 19 points while Denver Nuggets’ Danilo Gallinari had 18 points and five rebounds.

Parker and France will finish round one of the Eurobasket as they face Serbia on Monday in Lithuania.

Before Parker and France took the floor on Sunday, Spurs draftee Davis Bertans and Latvia fell to Israel 91-88. Bertans finished with seven points, one rebound, and one assist in 18 minutes.

Latvia will wrap up round one on Monday against Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki and Germany.

Another player the Spurs own the drafts right of, Erazem Lorbek, helped his squad Slovenia defeat Belgium70 to 61. Lorbek ended the game with seven points and five rebounds in 22 minutes of playing time.

Lorbek and Slovenia will face Russia in their final matchup of round one on Monday.
