Frank Kaminsky and the NBA Draft? Just four years ago that was a laughable scenario, let alone Kaminsky being an NBA Lottery pick.
On Thursday night that exact scenario played out though, with the Charlotte Hornets picking him at No. 9 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft.
From 4 points per game to a top-10 draft pick. Congrats, Frank.

Kaminsky started off his career at the University of Wisconsin by playing 271 minutes and averaging 1.8 points per game and just over seven minutes a game in his freshman season. His production was upped to 4.2 points and 10.3 minutes per game.
It wasn’t until his junior year that Kaminsky broke out, averaging 13.9 points per game seemingly out of nowhere. The reality was, Kaminsky worked hard and was more buried on the depth chart of big men on the Badgers’ roster.
He took full advantage of his two years as “the guy” up front, finishing off his Badgers career by averaging 18.8 points per game and shooting 54.7 percent from the field, 41.6 percent from three point range and grabbed 8.2 rebounds per game.
All of that led to him being named the national Player of the Year, the Naismith Award winner and taking just about every All-American and Player of the Year award out there.
Kaminsky going No. 9 overall in the draft was the second highest slot for a Badger in history. Only Devin Harris’ selection by the Washington Wizards at No. 5 (his rights were later traded to the Dallas Mavericks) was higher.
