We took a look early this week at some of the more interesting uncommitted players and where we thought they were trending. Our Alabama guy also chimed in with a couple of articles about the Tide’s DL targets and some thoughts on the new SEC signee limit rule and how it affects the recruits. With National Signing Day just around the corner, let’s take a look around the world wide web and some of the more interesting recruiting based articles from this week:
Crystal Ball Run: Trey Griffey (Son of Guess Who) Commits to Arizona:
Since beginning his head coaching career, Rich Rodriguez has always been known to prefer speed over size. Guys like Pat White, Steve Slaton and Denard Robinson have played and thrived in Rich Rod’s spread option scheme. Now the head coach at Arizona, Rodriguez is looking for the next guy to bring speed to the offense and wins to his new home in the desert.
The Duck Stops Here: If Kelly ever tinkers with Chance, a Texas trio could become Oregon’s home run threat:
Imagine Chance Allen, Bralon Addison and Josh Huff lining up at receiver at Oregon, with defenses having to contend with a Texas twister of speed and play-making ability. Addison and Chance are visiting this weekend, and if they can crack the lineup before Huff takes a crack at the NFL, the Ducks would have a lineup at wideout that’d draw howls of envy from Waco to College Station.
Leather Helmet Blog: Socrates Updates UGA Recruiting:
How good was the visit yesterday with Jacquay Williams? Well almost as good as a visit can get. We look in great shape here, and believe we will see Williams in the Red and Black.
Pitt Script Blog: Anxiety Builds Over Recruiting:
With Chryst and Bostad’s reputation for developing offensive linemen and Pitt’s need at the position, it seemed pretty plausable that they would be looking to gain some commitments from some big boys before signing day. One such get was supposed to be JJ Denman, the 4-star PA lineman who originally committed to Penn State and then Wisconsin. Being that Pitt hired away Wisconsin’s offensive coordinator and his position coach, things seemingly looked good for the Panthers.
Tennessee Vols: Quick Recruiting Update:
It’s that time of year again. The time of year that is better than Christmas for the fanatics of the college football world. If you’re anything like myself, you have been on the message boards daily looking for even the smallest snippet of insider news on the recruiting trail. Well on the first Wednesday of February, this year February 1st, all of the excitement and even dread, will for the most part be put to rest. It’s no secret that the coaching turnover on Rocky Top is getting old. Not only are we starved for wins, but stability as well. Mostly because those two generally go hand-in-hand. But despite the recent attrition among the staff, the Vols 2012 class has not really taken too big of a hit.
SBNation Recruiting: Mario Edwards Jr Sticking With Commitment:
Mario Edwards Jr., arguably the top recruit in the country, is sticking with his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles. Edwards flirted with Oklahoma, Texas and LSU throughout the process, but in the end, he elected to remain firm in his commitment to Florida State, just as his father did many years ago.
