Friday Injury Report – Colts v Jaguars

It’s Friday, so in keeping with tradition (and league policy) the Colts have released their final practice report/player status for their game this Sunday at Jacksonville.  Given the recent rash of bad news in these injury reports, I think Colts fans will be pretty happy with what’s in store for them after the jump.  So get your low-sodium snack ready, here we go:

Player Name Injury Friday Practice Status Game Status
Bob Sanders Biceps DNP OUT
Anthony Gonzalez Ankle DNP OUT
Kavell Conner Foot DNP OUT
Pierre Garcon Hamstring DNP Questionable
Donald Brown Hamstring DNP Questionable
Joseph Addai Knee DNP Questionable
Charlie Johnson Foot DNP Questionable
Jamey Richard Shoulder DNP Questionable
Gary Brackett Back FULL Probable
Jeff Saturday Knee FULL Probable
Clint Session Hamstring FULL Questionable
Jerraud Powers Foot DNP Probable
Austin Collie Heel FULL Questionable
Brandon King Hamstring DNP Questionable

Here are my quick thoughts on who will and will not play:

Won’t play: Sanders, Gonzalez, Conner (out on a limp with these three), Garcon, Brown, and King

Will play: Collie, Johnson, Brackett, Powers, Saturday, Addai, Session

Not sure: Richard

It was good to see Clint Session put in two full days of practice. I’m taking that as a sign that he’s ready to get back on the field this Sunday, and not a moment too soon, since his backup Kavell Conner just had foot surgery and is out for approximately eight weeks.

I expect both Garcon and Brown to miss this week’s game given the fact that both have missed the entire week of practice. The general rule of thumb, especially with the Colts, if you don’t practice, you don’t play. I speculated on the podcast that Brown’s injury would keep him out till after the bye week, while Garcon should be ready to play by Washington, at the latest.

It’s good to see Collie back to full participation on Friday. With both Gonzalez and Garcon likely to miss Sunday’s game, the Colts can ill-afford to go in with Reggie Wayne and Blair White as their only healthy receivers. Given the recent play of the Jaguars secondary, Collie has chance to duplicate his recent success.

Much like with Clint Session, it was good to see Charlie Johnson get a lot of practice time in this week. I’m not concerned, at all, about him sitting out Friday practice. He’s just getting some extra rest and treatment before the game, but I expect him to play, and play well.

Jamey Richard is the one question mark for me. After seeing him listed as limited on Thursday, I was a touch concerned. I read various reports, however, and was convinced it was just a rest/precautionary sitting. However, he went from full, to limited, to DNP, and that’s a pretty big red flag. The usual outcome in such a trend is the player won’t play. I don’t know the cause/severity of the injury, but I’m no longer convinced Richard suits up on Sunday.

For the Jags:

They will be without linebacker Justin Durant and safety Sean Considine. Defensive tackle Landon Cohen and holding machine Rashean Mathis are listed as probable.

Thanks to Brittany Diehl (@brittanydiehl), Phil Wilson (@pwilson24), Paul Kuharsky (@espn_afcsouth), and Colts.com (www.colts.com!) for their injury/practice reporting throughout the week.

Here’s to a good game (and a Colts victory) and to a much shorter injury report next week!
