If you can’t figure out today’s theme, shame on you.
- The decade isn’t quite over yet, but Puck Daddy is already rolling out their best/worst series, starting with the best and worst hockey sweaters unveiled during the 21st century. I don’t think the Thrashers’ jersey is that awful, and though they are awful, the Canadiens retro selection was a little weak. Also be sure to check out the best 9 teams of the decade, though I still can’t figure out how last year’s Wings squad doesn’t make that list.
- In news surprising to absolutely no one, Tim Lincecum smokes weed. Seriously? I knew the moment I saw the kid. Yes, being in Ann Arbor for four years gives me a German-Shepherd-like ability to sense when someone’s baked, but still. Don’t turn this into another Michael Phelps saga people. [via Deadspin]
D4L: endearing ourselves to women who love puppies daily
- I’ve been slacking on linking to other pieces around the Bloguin community, save for our Detroit brethern Big Al and Kyle. This piece from Will over at Agent Dagger was pointed out to me. Will looks at the top 5 NBA rookies so far in the first week-plus of action. A couple other guys that have been impressive are Ty Lawson and Pistons-draftee (but traded to Houston) Chase Budinger.
- If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the video of USC basketball coach Tim Floyd breaking up a fight in a California casino. My favorite part? Bobby Knight’s red-headed granddaughter at the :20 mark. Enjoy. [via With Leather]
- Bloguin has started a podcast, and none other than our good friend Big Al from The Wayne Fontes Experience is on the first episode. Check it out.
- If there weren’t enough jokes to make about Glen “Big Baby Davis,” here’s one more: he wants to play in the NFL. Apparently, Davis was a running back in high school. If William Perry was “The Refrigerator,” what is Davis?
- What a list: The Top 10 Sideline Reporter screw-ups of all time. I won’t embed all ten videos, but here’s 10-4 and 3-1. [via Deadspin] Here’s a suggestion for Honorable Mention, even if he isn’t actually on the sidelines.
- It’s official. Blatant Homerism has found the best Halloween costume of 2009 AND they got an interview.
Rob’s Highlight of the Day
Last night was a bit of a slow night in the sporting world, but Paul Millsap’s block on Spurs rookie DeJuan Blair made me feel a tiny bit better about the Pistons passing him over in the draft.
