Front office put to test

Lots of work juggling the roster

To deal with the incessant injuries, the Colts have had to lean heavily on team president Bill Polian’s blueprint on scouting. Nine players preparing for the Bengals weren’t on the opening-game roster. Safety Aaron Francisco and linebacker Tyjuan Hagler weren’t even in the league when the season began, yet started against the Eagles.

Polian declined to talk with The Star this week about how the team has had to adjust its roster on a weekly basis. On his Monday night radio show, he conceded “we’re down to as thin a situation as I’ve ever experienced in all my years in professional football.”
