FSU Baseball Player of the Week: D.J. Stewart

SchaubINT

It was tough week for Florida State as the Seminoles were eliminated in just two games at the Tallahassee Regional. After getting blanked by Georgia Southern 7-0 on Friday night, the Seminoles saw their season end with a 6-5 loss to Alabama on Saturday afternoon. FSU finishes the season 43-17 as the 2014 ACC Player of the Year takes home the final Florida State Baseball Player of the Week award.

The player of the week honors for the week of May 26th through June 1st goes to sophomore outfielder D.J. Stewart. In Florida State’s two losses during the Tallahassee Regional, Stewart went a combined 3-for-7 at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Stewart had three of FSU’s eight total hits in the regional and his two-run single in the ninth inning on Saturday drew the Seminoles to within a run. Stewart was also the lone Florida State hitter to have multiple hits in a dismal regional showing.

While the 2014 season is over for Florida State, Stewart is not finished playing baseball this summer. The sophomore will be a member of Team USA’s Collegiate National Team. Team USA will begin play later this month.
