It was a tough week for Florida State as the baseball team managed just one win in four games. The Seminoles fell to Jacksonville on Wednesday before dropping two of three to Georgia, but it may have been a winless week had it not been for the FSU second baseman.

John Sansone is the Florida State Baseball Player of the Week for the week of February 16th through the 22nd for his clutch performance over the weekend against Georgia.

Sansone went just 4-for-17 at the dish this week, but drove in six runs and had three of his four hits go for extra bases. In Friday’s 7-5 win over Georgia, Sansone tied a career-high with 4 RBIs including a home run and a 2-run double in the seventh inning that put Florida State ahead for good.

Sansone closed the series on Saturday evening by going 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs in a 10-5 loss to the Bulldogs. For the season, Sansone, a junior, is hitting just .259, but is one of five ‘Noles with a home run and is tied for the team-lead with 8 RBIs.

Sansone and Florida State will play four home games this week as the Seminoles host Jacksonville on Tuesday before facing UNC-Wilmington in a weekend series.
