FSU Baseball Player of the Week: John Sansone

It was a 3-2 week for Florida State as the Seminoles swept a two-game set against Stetson before dropping two of three over the weekend to top-ranked Virginia. While it was another winning week for Florida State, it was an unlikely middle infielder that shined the brightest.

The Florida State Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 21st through the 27th goes to second baseman John Sansone. In five games during the week, Sansone went 6-for-18 with four runs scored and eight RBIs.

In Wednesday’s 13-3 win over Stetson, Sansone tied a career-high with three hits while scoring a pair of runs and driving in two more. Sansone drove in six combined runs over the final two games of the Virginia series.

After tying a career-high with four RBIs in Saturday’s 7-0 win over the top-ranked Cavaliers, Sansone got the Seminoles on the board in the third inning with a two-run home run on Sunday. The blast was the second long ball of the season for Sansone.

Sansone and Florida State will have four days off before opening a three-game series at home against Minnesota on Friday.
