The Florida State Baseball Player of the Week for the week of May 12th through the 18th goes to starting pitcher Luke Weaver. Though Weaver appeared in just one of FSU’s four games this week, the right-handed ace was downright dominant.
In a 3-0 win over Duke on Thursday, Weaver tossed seven shutout innings allowing just five hits while surrendering one walk. Weaver earned the victory to improve to 8-3 on the season and has not allowed a single run in more than 17 innings. Weaver’s eight victories on the season leads FSU and is tied for third in the ACC.
With Thursday’s outing, Weaver lowered his ERA to 2.45 on the season and will likely get at least one start during the ACC Tournament this upcoming week. Weaver however, was not the only FSU pitcher to have a solid week. On the softball diamond, Lacey Waldrop won all three games of the Tallahassee Regional while posting a 0.39 ERA in the process as the Lady ‘Noles advanced to the Super Regionals.
