Against four in-state opponents, Florida State had yet another productive week, going 3-1. After beating Stetson on Tuesday, FSU took two of three from rival Miami beginning with a dramatic 8-7, 17-inning victory on Friday night. It was a great week at the plate for a number of Seminoles, but the best week belonged to their right-handed hitting first baseman.

Quincy Nieporte is the Florida State Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 20th through the 26th after hitting .467 over the four games.

Nieporte was 7-for-15 at the dish this week with five runs scored, 6 RBIs, two doubles and a home run. After going 2-for-4 against Stetson on Tuesday, Nieporte went 3-for-5 in Friday’s marathon game with three extra base hits including a homer.

The FSU first baseman was one of many Seminoles to have a big night in Saturday’s 15-5 win. Nieporte was 2-for-4 with two runs and 3 RBIs.

After limited at-bats to begin the season, Nieporte has emerged as a real weapon in the middle of the FSU order. For the season, the sophomore ranks second on the team with a .309 batting average behind only D.J. Stewart. His 35 RBIs is good for third on the Seminoles behind Stewart and Dylan Busby.

Nieporte and the rest of the team should be well rested when Coastal Carolina comes to Dick Howser Stadium on Friday. The Seminoles do not play a midweek contest this week.
