It was a great week for the Florida State men’s basketball team as the Seminoles erased deficits of 15 and 16 points to top Wake Forest and Miami at home. Few Seminoles played well in both games, but Montay Brandon’s performance in Sunday’s thrilling 55-54 victory over rival and 23rd-ranked Miami was near flawless.

Brandon is the Florida State Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 26th through February 1st. It marks the fifth time this season that Brandon has been the top Seminole for the week.

After finishing with just 7 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in Wednesday’s 82-76 double-overtime win over Wake Forest, Brandon willed FSU to victory over Miami on Sunday. Brandon scored 11 of his game-high 18 points in the second half and was a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field as the Seminoles erased an early 16-point deficit. Brandon also grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds and recorded a game-high 3 steals.

A junior, Brandon continues to have a career-year. Brandon ranks second on the team averaging nearly 13 points-per-game and leads the team with a 5.5 rebounds-per-game average. Brandon is tied for the team-lead in steals per contest and is shooting 56 percent from the floor — a remarkable percentage for a wing player.

Brandon and FSU will look to win their third straight contest as they host Clemson on Wednesday night.
