Despite improving to 3-0 on the season and pitching its first road shutout in nearly 12 years, Florida State dropped one spot in each of the two polls on Sunday.
After defeating Boston College 14-0 on Friday, FSU fell from ninth to No. 10 in the Associated Press Poll and from No. 6 to No. 7 in the Amway Coaches Poll. Ohio State continued to hold the top spot in each poll after struggling in a 20-13 home victory over Northern Illinois on Sunday.
In the AP Poll, the Buckeyes were followed by Big Ten foe Michigan State with TCU and Ole Miss tied for the No. 3 ranking. That marks a 12-spot move from the Rebels, who were previously 15th before defeating No. 2 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night.
Baylor rounded out the top 5, followed by Notre Dame, Georgia, LSU, UCLA and FSU.
In the Coaches Poll, TCU moved up from third to second, followed by Michigan State, Baylor and Ole Miss. The Rebels and new No. 6 Georgia each jumped the No. 7 Seminoles this week in the Coaches Poll.
The ACC continues to have three teams ranked. After beating Louisville 20-17 on Thursday, Clemson held firm at No. 11 in the AP Poll, but fell a spot to 10th in the Coaches Poll.
Georgia Tech fell to Notre Dame 30-22 on Saturday, but remained ranked. The Yellow Jackets come in 20th in both polls this week. That’s a 4-spot drop in the Coaches Poll and a 6-spot plummet in the AP Poll.
FSU will be idle next week before traveling to face Wake Forest on October 3rd.
