For what was the final game at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday for a number of very accomplished seniors, the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 14 goes to a true freshman. Dalvin Cook carried the football and the Florida State offense on Saturday in a 24-19 win over rival Florida.

Though he didn’t find the end zone, it was a career-day for Cook, who toted the ball a career-high 24 times for a career-high 144 yards in the victory. Cook also caught two passes for 28 yards including a long of 30 to finish with 172 of Florida State’s 306 yards from scrimmage, which equates to 56 percent of the FSU offense.

After not getting a carry in the season-opener against Oklahoma State, Dalvin Cook has emerged as one of Florida State’s biggest weapon down the stretch of games with winning touchdowns in the fourth quarter against both Louisville and Miami.

Following Saturday’s big rushing effort, Cook now leads the Seminoles with 728 yards on the ground this season. With a strong finish, it is now conceivable that Cook could join Devonta Freeman as the second Florida State back to hit the 1,000-yard rushing mark in as many seasons.
