For the second week in a row and the third time in six weeks, the Florida State Football Player of the Week is freshman running back Dalvin Cook. Cook had a career-night on Saturday as the fourth-ranked Seminoles outlasted Georgia Tech 37-35 to win a third straight ACC Championship and earn a spot in college football’s first playoff.

Cook accounted for 45 percent of Florida State’s offense in the victory, rushing for 177 yards on 31 carries — both career-highs — and a touchdown. Cook also caught five passes out of the backfield for 43 yards.

With the Seminoles clinging to a small lead with under a minute to play, Cook’s 10-yard run on 3rd-and-7 cemented the victory. Over the last two weeks, Cook has nearly 400 yards of total offense.

After not getting a carry in the season-opener against Oklahoma State, Cook has emerged as Florida State’s go-to back. Cook sits just 95 yards shy of becoming the second FSU running back in as many years to go for 1,000 yards on the ground. With his performance on Saturday, Cook eclipsed Greg Allen’s Florida State freshman rushing record which stood for 23 years.
