Florida State notched its sixth straight victory over Miami on Saturday night with a thrilling 29-24 victory at Doak Campbell Stadium. The FSU victory was a total team effort, but one player stood head and shoulders above the others.
Sophomore running back Dalvin Cook is the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 6 after scoring the game-winning touchdown against the Hurricanes for the second year in a row.
Cook scored each of Florida State’s three touchdowns, including a 23-yard run to put the Seminoles ahead for good with 6:44 remaining. For the second straight week, Cook scored on his first carry, going 72 yards on the ground to give FSU an early 7-0 lead. Cook also recorded the first receiving touchdown of his career, hauling in a 36-yard score from quarterback Everett Golson in the first quarter.
For the night, Cook finished with 269 yards from scrimmage, including 222 on the ground. Cook added three catches for 47 yards. Cook’s 792 yards rushing this season leads the ACC and ranks sixth nationally. Cook’s 9.0 yards-per-carry average ranks fourth in the country.
Cook will look to continue his outstanding season on Saturday as the Seminoles play host to Louisville.
