The Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 7 was a no-brainer as redshirt sophomore quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Jameis Winston, had his best game of the year in a 38-20 victory for #1 Florida State over Syracuse.
With news of a disciplinary hearing coming the day prior, Winston was able to block out all distractions and star for the Seminoles on Saturday. Winston complete 83 percent of his passes, going 30-for-36 while passing for 317 yards and three touchdowns.
The 83 percent completion rate was Winston’s best of the year and highest since last year’s mid-November contest against the Orange. Winston threw touchdowns to three different receivers and completed passes to seven different players overall.
For the first time since the home opener against The Citadel, Winston did not commit a single turnover. As a team, Florida State finished the day with nearly 500 yards of offense and 29 first downs.
Winston improved to 19-0 in his career as a starter at Florida State and 10-0 away from Tallahassee.
