It wasn’t pretty, but third-ranked Florida State was able to run the nation’s longest winning streak to 27 games on Saturday with a thrilling last second win over Boston College. A late Roberto Aguayo field goal lifted Florida State to the 20-17 victory, but as FSU stared adversity in the face yet again, reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Jameis Winston, remained calm and collected.
Winston is the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 13 after passing for 281 yards and a touchdown in the Seminoles’ narrow victory. Winston complete 22 of his 32 pass attempts and threw a strike to tight end Nick O’Leary for his 19th touchdown pass of the 2014 season. He was intercepted once.
Following a missed Boston College field goal with 4:37 to play, Winston led a 12-play, 66-yard march to set up the winning field goal with three seconds remaining. It marked the fourth time in five games that Winston led FSU on a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. As a starter, the redshirt sophomore from Alabama is now 24-0.
