Dalvin Cook was again outstanding for Florida State in Saturday’s 41-21 victory over Louisville, accounting for 223 yards and two touchdowns, but for another FSU skill player, it was a career-day.

Junior wide receiver Kermit Whitfield is the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 7 after tallying a career-high in both receptions and yards in Saturday’s home win over the Cardinals.

Whitfield finished the day with nine receptions for 172 yards and a 70-yard third quarter touchdown in which he did most of his damage after the catch and ultimately put the Seminoles ahead for good. For the year, Whitfield leads the Seminoles with 29 receptions for 397 yards. Whitfield is tied for second on the team with two touchdown catches. Only junior Travis Rudolph has more.

Entering the year, Whitfield had just 11 catches for 145 yards. Whitfield surpassed that yardage total on Saturday alone. The junior from Orlando will hope for another big week as FSU visits Georgia Tech on Saturday.
