The Seminoles garner 10 of 11 first-place votes

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference softball regular season, as voted by the league’s 11 head coaches. The Seminoles, who won both the regular season and tournament crowns last year, received 100 points and 10 first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to include their own team on their ballot.

Notre Dame, which finished its inaugural season of ACC play in second place last year, received 88 points, including the remaining one first-place vote. NC State, which finished fourth in the ACC last season, came in third with 82 points.

Rounding out the top five were Virginia Tech with 69 points and Louisville with 68 points. The remainder of the poll saw North Carolina with 56 points, Syracuse with 44 points, Georgia Tech with 33 points, Boston College with 32 points, Pitt with 17 points and Virginia with 16 points.

Florida State, NC State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech all represented the conference in the 2014 NCAA Softball Championship, with the Seminoles reaching the 2014 College World Series.

In the Preseason USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, the ACC is represented by No. 5 Florida State and No. 22 Notre Dame. The ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 also lists Florida State as No. 5 and Notre Dame as No. 21.

The 2015 season begins this weekend, with all of the league’s 11 teams in action.
