The nation’s top two teams had to complete second half rallies this week as top-ranked Mississippi State and #2 Florida State each found a way to stay unbeaten. Florida State overcame a 21-0 deficit in a 42-31 win over Louisville on Thursday night while the Bulldogs scored the game’s final 17 points in a 17-10 win over Arkansas in Starkville on Saturday night.
Despite hard-fought victories by each team, Mississippi State and FSU remained first and second in both major polls. They were followed by Auburn, who jumped Alabama after a 35-31 win over Ole Miss in Oxford Saturday.
The Crimson Tide were fourth in each poll, one spot ahead of fifth-ranked Oregon.
The second-ranked Seminoles were joined by a pair of ACC teams in both human polls. Clemson is 19th in each poll while Duke is 20th in the USA Today Coaches Poll and 22nd in the AP Poll.
The top 25 could undergo a dramatic change after next week as there are six match-ups of ranked teams.
