Florida State picked a good day to be sluggish as the Seminoles notched a 34-14 victory over South Florida on Saturday after sleepwalking through the first half. FSU however, wasn’t the only top-tier program to struggle in Week 2 and as a result, the Seminoles moved up two spots in each poll on Sunday.
The Seminoles climbed from eighth to sixth in the Amway Coaches Poll. The top 5 is the same in each poll with Ohio State being trailed by second-ranked Alabama and No. 3 TCU. Michigan State is fourth in each poll, followed by Baylor.
In the Associated Press Poll, FSU rose from 11th to No. 9 after falling out of the top 10 last week. The Seminoles sit behind No. 6 USC, No. 7 Georgia and eighth-ranked Notre Dame in the AP Poll. UCLA rounded out the top 10.
FSU remains one of three ranked ACC teams. Atlantic division foe Clemson cracked the Coaches Poll’s top 10 at No. 9 this week while jumping one spot to 11th in the AP Poll. Reigning Coastal division champion Georgia Tech is 14th in the AP Poll and 16th in the Coaches.
The Seminoles will travel this week to face Boston College on Friday night. The Eagles have defeated a pair of FCS teams by a combined 100-3 margin, but did not receive any votes in this week’s polls.
