<![CDATA[For the first time in nearly two weeks, Florida State resumed ACC play on Friday. The Seminoles took the first two games at North Carolina, but the Tar Heels were able to score late to avoid the sweep on Sunday. While Florida State was unable to complete the sweep of North Carolina over the weekend, it was able to clinch the Atlantic division and earn a top-2 seed in the ACC Tournament. The loss on Sunday snapped a six-game winning streak for Florida State.
After beating Stetson on Tuesday and taking two of three from the Tar Heels, the Seminoles are 39-12 for the season and 19-8 in conference play. FSU will conclude the regular season at home against Duke next Sunday, but looking back on an exciting weekend, here's how the Seminoles were able to get the better of North Carolina:
Florida State 7, North Carolina 0
Friday, May 9th
Florida State opened the series by shutting out North Carolina for the first time in 13 years thanks to a masterful performance by starting pitcher Luke Weaver. Weaver surrendered five hits in seven shutout innings while issuing two walks and striking out six. At the plate, D.J. Stewart finished with three RBIs on three doubles while Justin Gonzalez and Casey Smit each had a pair of hits for the Seminoles.

Saturday, May 10th
Mike Compton was solid in eight innings, allowing two runs on five hits without surrendering a walk for FSU. The bats started slow for Florida State, but came to life in the middle and later innings. John Nogowski, D.J. Stewart and Jose Brizuela each had two hits and each scored a pair of runs. Ben DeLuzio also scored twice for the Seminoles. DeLuzio, Justin Gonzalez and John Sansone all drove in two runs for Florida State. Parks Jordan scored a run for the Tar Heels and drove in another. Compton picked up the win to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Sunday, May 11th
Florida State rallied from four runs down in the series finale, but a RBI single from Tyler Ramirez in the bottom of the seventh helped the Tar Heels avoid the sweep. Parks Jordan and Tom Zengel each drove in a run and scored another for North Carolina in the victory. Danny De La Calle scored and drove in a run for FSU in the loss in addition to being the only Seminole with two hits on the day. Gage Smith allowed just a run on three hits in three innings of work for Florida State, but took the defeat to fall to 4-2 on the year.]]>
