LINK: ACC BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK ANNOUNCED
Florida State’s Marconcini, Boston College’s King recognized
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Chris Marconcini has been voted the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, while Boston College’s Mike King garnered Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Marconcini had a spectacular week in leading the Seminoles to a 4-0 mark, including a win over No. 7 Florida and a series sweep of Pitt. He hit .467 (7-for-15) over the four games with five home runs, 13 RBIs, and six runs scored. A redshirt senior designated hitter from Brentwood, Tennessee, he hit a home run in all four games, including two in the series opener against Pitt.
Marconcini, who entered the week with just one home run and nine RBIs, now has six home runs and 22 RBIs on the season and raised his batting average 53 points.
King threw a complete-game one-hitter against No. 29 Georgia Tech on Friday night as the Eagles won the series opener, 1-0. He struck out a career-high eight batters and didn’t allow a walk en route to his first win of the season and his first career complete game. After giving up a hit in the first inning, the sophomore from Warwick, Rhode Island, did not allow a runner to advance past second base and faced the minimum number of batters over the course of the game.
It was the first complete-game one-hitter for a Boston College pitcher since 2003, when Chris Lambert accomplished the feat in a seven-inning effort against Pitt.
