Tigers pitcher Fu-Te Ni, also known as 气体可 (“Gas Can” in Mandarin), was sent down to Toledo after today’s 5-1 loss to the Twins. Ni has allowed 13 earned runs on 12 hits in his last 5.1 innings pitched, a far cry from the 4 earned runs allowed in his other 17.2 innings pitched this season.
The Tigers haven’t announced a replacement as of yet. They do not play tomorrow, so a decision may not be made until Friday. Many fans believe that Daniel Schlereth will get the call. Schlereth has posted a 2.91 ERA and 44 (!) strikeouts in just 34 innings this year at AAA Toledo. He’s also walked 26 batters, the only reason why he hasn’t been called up before this point.
I’m hoping Daniel gets called up; maybe we’ll even get to see his sister Alexandria at the CoPa in the near future.
