A week ago, the Pirates had run some wins together and were looking to complete a sweep against the Tigers. This Sunday, the Pirates have rolled off a couple of wins in a row against the Cubs and are looking to complete another sweep. Perhaps the difference here is that the Cubs have been absolutely pitiful this weekend aganist the Pirates and after seeing them the last two days, it’d be pretty disappointing to drop even one game in this series.
The problem today is the weather, which means the game may not happen. If it does, Jeff Karstens will take the mound against the struggling Ryan Dempster. A win gets the Pirates to within a game of .500 (again) with a series against the Mets next week.
