The Ottawa Fury take their record-breaking shutout streak to Minneapolis on Saturday where they hope jump to the upper rungs of the NASL ladder with a victory.
The Loons and the Fury are even on points heading into this matchup, and both will be looking to put themselves in better position of the combined table in this early part of the Fall season.
The Fury will be missing Julian de Guzman, who is on National team duty with Canada at the Gold Cup. Nicki Paterson is out for the rest of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament. Other than that, the club is good to go health-wise, which will be a nice change for head coach Marc Dos Santos.
Minnesota has not defended its home field particularly well this season, having taken only 53% of the points on offer from its home matches. On the flip side, Ottawa has only taken 20% of the available points in its road matches this season, which will have to improve if they are serious about contending for the playoffs.
In their only other match this season, Ottawa beat Minnesota 1-0 at home in April thanks to a Tom Heinemann goal. Last season, Minnesota took all nine points in three matches against Ottawa.Heinemann leads the Fury in goals this season with two. For Minnesota, Brazilian Pablo Campos leads the attack with four goals.
